Day 1: Upon arrival at Coimbatore/ Ooty Railway station, meet our driver/representative and proceed to the Hotel, Check- in and freshen up. Nestled beautifully in the Nilgiri Hills, Ooty short for Ootacamund or Udhagamandalam is located in Tamil Nadu at a height of 2240 m above sea level. It is one of South India's most popular hill stations and is also known as the "Queen of Hill Stations". Mother Nature has bestowed Ooty with lush green forests, scenic landscape, pristine lakes and beautiful tourist attractions. Conifers, pine and eucalyptus trees grow abundantly in this region and make the environment fresh, clean and pleasant. Ooty is a destination that can be visited throughout the year. Summers are quite pleasant, winters are cool, and monsoons are beautiful. The Nilgiri Mountain Railway is 46 kilometers (28.5 miles) long. It passes through many tunnels, and over hundreds of bridges (about 30 of them are large ones). The railway is particularly picturesque because of the surrounding rocky terrain, ravines, tea plantations, and thickly forested hills. Coonoor, with its world famous teas, is a tourist destination in itself. The most spectacular scenery and best views are situated along the stretch from Mettupalayam to Coonoor. In the afternoon Proceed to visit Ooty Lake, considered one of the most important parts of every Ooty tour, Ooty Lake is indeed a place to visit. It is an artificial lake that was built for fishing purposes. This lake is popular for boating. You can enjoy a refreshing ride on its serene waters. There is boating house located near the lake offering a wide array of boats on hire. Cycling by the side of lake is also worth experiencing. There are also a few shops located around the lake, selling various locally made items.
Day 2: Ooty Sight Seeing
Today, after breakfast, go for sightseeing tour of Botanical Gardens of Ooty. Spread over 55 acres of land, this garden is divided into five different sections such as Fern House, Lower Garden, Italian Garden, Conservatory and Nurseries. The flower show conducted here as a part of Ooty Summer festival is a major attraction. Another popular attraction of Botanical Garden is the Fossil Tree Trunk that is said to be around 20 million years old. The wide variety of plants here are worth exploring. Located at an altitude of 2623 meters, Doddabetta Peak is the highest peak in the Nilgiris. At the junction of Western and Eastern Ghats. Covered by dense sholas, this peak is a trekkers favorite. The view from the top of the peak is absolutely mesmerising, there is a telescope house at the peak with two telescopes presenting captivating view of the valley around. Rich flora and fauna here add on to the overall charm of Doddabetta Peak. A popular place for picnics and film shooting, Kamaraj Sagar Dam is also known as the Sandynallah Reservoir, this dam offer peaceful environment with beautiful surrounding where you can spend some time at ease. Along with being a popular picnic spot, it is also visited by tourists for bird watching as well as for fishing. It is a popular site for researchers who come to study environment. Day 3: Ooty to Coimbatore
This is the last day of your tour. Wake up to the magnificent view of the misty hills. Visit the Mukurthi National Park. The place is sure to give a memorable time to everyone amid its enthralling scenic beauty and rich nature. Spread across 80 sq.km, this national park has various streams and rivers flowing through it, which in turn add to the overall attraction of this place. Many animals and birds can be spotted around these sources of water. There are also a few watch towers located inside the national park. It is a popular site for trekking as well.The Wax World Museum in Ooty is a great alternative to sightseeing mountains and natural valleys of Ooty. Situated just 2 kilometers from the main town of Ooty, this is a place that you would want to visit during your vacation in Ooty. It makes for thoroughly enjoyable and informative experience especially for kids who get a visual treat of wax statues. The Wax World Museum is situated within a 130-year old Colonial Mansion in Ooty close to the Ooty Lake and the Ooty Town Centre.
